Jesus – the beginning and the end

11 days that will transform you life
A pilgrimage on dusty roads  through spectacular landscapes. The sun paints artistic shades on sandstone mountainsides. The wind carries a strange freshness in the air. The Maluti mountains boast their splendour. The African soil under your feet reminds of a journey deep within.

The first thing (“I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.” (Revelation of John 1:8, ESV)) and the last, (When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. But he laid his right hand on me, saying, “Fear not, I am the first and the last” (Revelation of John 1:17, ESV)) that I learned about Jesus, while wearing the full armour of Ephesians 6, a backpack with food for 10 days, a tent, 40 SMS prayer partners, a little yellow guitar, a map, a pair of worn-out shoes and a scimpy little cap, childlike faith and just enough crazyness to step outside the box, was that He walked with me from the start of this life-changing adventure AND He was also waiting for me at the end …

This prayer-trek through New Zealand had me prayer-walking for 42 days, bike-praying for 16 days, praying on the bus for 2 days, 3 hours on a ferry, as well as travelling by truck through a forest in the rain and mud.

On day 60, as I finally reached the Southern end of the prayer-trek, I prayed a last prayer for New Zealand. Just then God spoke to me through a little yellow sign with four words on it. My heart gave four wild jumps as I realised He announced that my mission was accomplished. This prayer on the last day, was about the mandate from Isaiah 40:3 with which I was walking as I prepared the way for the LORD, making straight a highway for our God in New Zealand.

… Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God. (Isaiah 40:3, KJV)

I turned around and looked back in the direction where I prayer-trekked for the past 60 days, preparing a “highway”. An old sign next to the road caught my attention. A little yellow sign with four words on it.

Even on the day that I started, the He was there just as He was already in the end … That’s profound!

I just thank You Jesus,
for Your encouragement and
for having prepared me
in body, mind and spirit
for this prayer-trek.

And I ask that You touch each one
reading this Lord Jesus.

Just visit with a gentle touch right
in the heart where only You can Lord.

And bring healing and restoration Lord.
And ignite a new flame of purpose and destiny.
And just reveal more of Your love, Lord Jesus.
