50 years since the war and peace

11 days that will transform you life
A pilgrimage on dusty roads  through spectacular landscapes. The sun paints artistic shades on sandstone mountainsides. The wind carries a strange freshness in the air. The Maluti mountains boast their splendour. The African soil under your feet reminds of a journey deep within.
Let your heart and mind find its resting place in God. Read more

In preparing for the prayer-walk in Namibia I realise:

I will enter the country on their Independence Day

The Angolan Bush War which was fought primarily in

Northern Namibia and Southern Angola

lasted from 1966 until 1989

The total of 23 years makes it one of Africa’s longest conflicts.

Even today, 27 years after the end

I still find them roaming the plains

hiding in hidden places

nothing can numb the heartfelt pain

embarrassment and shame

of broken soldiers

once called heros …

1966 to 2016 = 50 years

For the broken soldier

For a sister, mother and friend

and every father and brother in pain,

I do proclaim:

As I walk between Rundu and Grootfontein,

Tsumeb to Otavi and Otjiwarongo …

Southern Africa, I declare

2016 is your year of Jubilee
